Two Guelph men face impaired driving charges following separate collisions Saturday.

Approximately 1:15 a.m. police were called to a collision at Wellington Street West and Edinburgh Road South. One of the drivers sustained a minor head injury and was transported to hospital but declined medical care. Open alcohol was located in the man's vehicle. Officers spoke to the driver at the hospital and detected an odour of alcoholic beverage on his breath.

Tests at the police station confirmed the man had more than the legal amount of alcohol on his breath. A 28-year-old Guelph man is charged with impaired operation and dangerous operation.

Just before midnight Saturday, police were notified of a collision on Yorkshire Street South. A pickup truck had struck a parked vehicle and fled the scene. The involved truck was located minutes later at a residence nearby. Officers spoke to a man, who was showing obvious signs of impairment.

When advised he was under arrest, the man began resisting and initially refused to get into the cruiser. He was eventually transported to the police station, where breath tests confirmed he had more than the legal amount of alcohol in his system. A 35-year-old Guelph man is charged with impaired operation, failing to stop at a collision and obstruct police.
