Six horses die in overnight barn fire (update)

TOWN OF ERIN - June 13, 2018 at approximately 2:30 a.m., members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) along with Town of Erin Fire and Emergency Services responded to a structure fire on Wellington Road 23, north of the Village of Erin. The barn, livestock and equipment were loss.
 
One person escaped without injuries.
 
Initial estimates put the damages at approximately $1 million and include six Belgian draft horses that were lost to the fire (a mare, foal and four yearlings). Initial reports indicated that seven horses were lost, however that number has been reduced to six.

The Town of Erin Fire and Emergency Services is currently investigating and the Ontario Fire Marshalls Office had been on scene.

TOWN OF ERIN - On June 13, 2018 at approximately 2:30 a.m., members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police along with Town of Erin Fire and Emergency Services responded to a structure fire on Wellington Road 23, north of the Village of Erin. It was reported that a barn was engulfed in fire.

No one was injured, however the structure is considered a total loss and has claimed seven horses as well as equipment.

The Town of Erin Fire and Emergency Services is currently investigating and the Ontario Fire Marshalls Office has been notified.
