Simple parking ticket gets complicated for Guelph driver

When a by-law officer attempted to serve a ticket to the accused, the male driver accelerated out of the parking spot and struck the officer

On June 1, 2018 at approximately 5:35 p.m., a Guelph by-law officer were issuing a parking ticket to a male in the area of Wyndham Street and Cork Street. When the by-law officer attempted to serve the ticket on the male, the male accelerated out of the parking spot and struck the by-law officer. Guelph Police located the male at a residence on Gordon Street. Police attempted to arrest the male and a struggle ensued.

Daniel Simpson, a 25-year-old Guelph male, was charged with dangerous driving, fail to remain at the scene of an accident, assault with a weapon, and resist arrest. He is schedule to appear in court on July 13, 2018. The By-Law officer received medical attention and was later released from hospital.
