In a four-day span, Guelph police made six impaired driving-related arrests, including a Cambridge man found passed out in his vehicle at work.

The first incident noted in a police news release happened at about 10:30 a.m. on Friday. Police were called about a man drinking in a vehicle outside the LCBO store on Scottsdale Drive.

Investigators found the suspect vehicle a short time later in a York Road parking lot and the owner, a 48-year-old Guelph man was charged with impaired driving.

Later that day, just after 5 p.m., emergency services were called to a parking lot in the area of York Road and Victoria Road South for reports of a male passed out in a vehicle. A window was smashed to get the male out.

At about 3 a.m. on Saturday, police spotted a male passed out in a vehicle downtown and observed vomit inside and outside the vehicle, which matched the description of a suspect vehicle involved in a hit-and-run earlier in the night.

Shortly after 6 p.m. on Saturday, an officer on patrol stopped a vehicle for speeding on Woodlawn Road, near Inverness Drive. The driver, a 35-year-old Guelph man, reportedly had a strong odour of alcoholic beverage on his breath and was arrested for impaired driving.

A traffic stop at about 8:15 p.m. on Sunday resulted in an impaired driving charge for a 24-year-old Waterloo man. The stop occurred on Clairfields Drive West.

Investigators noted a strong odour of alcoholic beverage on the driver’s breath.

A 34-year-old Cambridge man was charged with impaired driving shortly after 2 p.m. on Monday. Police were called to a workplace on Elimra Road South where they reportedly found a man passed out in a vehicle and spotted an open bottle of vodka on the passenger seat.

In addition to facing charges, each of the drivers had their licence automatically suspended for 90 days and their vehicle impounded for a week.
