Smashed window leads to multiple charges for Guelph man

On Dec. 3, 2018, at approximately 10:06 a.m., Guelph Police were called to an apartment complex on Carden Street in regard to a male that had smashed a window on Dec. 1 at approximately 3:27 a.m.  The superintendent advised police the responsible male had just left the apartment building.

The male was located in the area of Woolwich Street and MacDonell Street a short time later. A 22-year-old Guelph male was arrested for mischief under $5,000.

On April 12, 2017, this same male was sentenced in regards to the offenses of possession of break-in instruments, two counts of possession schedule I, three counts of theft under $5,000, fraud under $5,000, three counts of breach probation order, and possession of credit card.

On May 3, 2018, the male was sentenced in regards to the offenses of attempt break and enter a dwelling place, two counts of break and enter into a dwelling place, two counts of fail to comply and fail to re-attend court.

On Aug. 28, 2018, the male entered into an undertaking before a Justice of the Peace. The male is charged with two counts of possess controlled substance, theft under $5,000, possession of stolen property under $5,000, six counts of breach probation order, possess break-in instruments, and fail to comply with undertaking.

On November 12, 2018, the male entered into a recognizance before a Justice of the Peace. The male is charged with two counts of breach his probation order, and breach his recognizance.

As a result of the a/m incidents, the male was charged with failing to comply with an undertaking, breaching his recognizance, three counts of breaching his probation order, possession of break-in instruments, and possession of stolen property – a total of eight new charges as a result of smashing the window.

The male is scheduled to appear in court on Dec. 4, 2018.
