Guelph police are investigating after staff of a south end business were threatened with a knife Wednesday afternoon.

Approximately 12:45 p.m., police were called to a business on Kortright Road West. A man entered the store and made his way to the employees-only area. When he was asked to leave that area, the man picked up a 30-centimetre knife from a counter and held it at his side while uttering a threat.

Another employee intervened and the man put the knife down and left the store. Investigation revealed a short time before that incident, the same suspect pumped $90 in gas into his car at a nearby station. When staff advised they could not accept Chinese currency as payment the man left without paying for the fuel.

Anyone with information about either incident is asked to call Const. Mark O’Connell at 519-824-1212, ext. 7126, email him at [email protected], leave an anonymous message for Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS) or leave an anonymous tip online at www.csgw.tips.
