Staff distraction leads to perfume theft valued at $2,400

A Guelph business owner is out more than $2,400 worth of perfume following a distraction theft on Thursday evening.

A male and female entered a store near Eramosa Road and Stevenson Street North and, while the female distracted staff, the male collected a dozen bottles of Chanel perfume. Minutes later, they left without paying, explains a police news release.

The theft was reported to police the next day.

Police continue to investigate.
