Two vehicles were “heavily damaged” during a south end collision on Friday afternoon, including a Maserati SUV reported stolen in Toronto.

An 18-year-old Scarborough man faces a variety of charges, including impaired driving, dangerous driving, possession of stolen property over $5,000, failing to stop at a collision and two counts of failing to comply with release orders.

Police were called to the Downey Road crash shortly after midnight.

As explained in a police news release, the Maserati driver fled on foot but was detained by a witness. Officers report the driver was “showing signs of impairment” and was taken to the police station where further analysis determined he was “impaired by a drug.”

Further investigation revealed the accused was bound by court orders placing him under house arrest and banning him from driving.

Two people inside the second vehicle were taken to hospital for treatment.
