Guelph police are investigating after a stolen van fled from officers Tuesday morning and was later recovered.
Just after 6 a.m., a resident near Westwood Road and Imperial Road North called to report his Dodge Caravan had been stolen while warming up in the driveway.
Less than 30 minutes later an officer spotted the van driving on Willow Road at Silvercreek Parkway North. The driver pulled into a parking lot and then accelerated quickly away. The van was not pursued in the interest of public safety.
Just before 10 p.m. Tuesday, a bylaw officer located the van parked on Shelldale Crescent with the keys inside. It was seized for a forensic examination.
