CENTRE WELLINGTON – Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police investigating a sexual assault this past winter by a man posing as a rideshare driver say they have now laid charges.
The OPP said that on Jan. 29 at around 1:15 a.m., the victims were waiting for their rideshare at an establishment on Woodlawn Road West in Guelph, when the suspect identified himself as their rideshare driver.
The victims left with the man and were sexually assaulted, police said in a news release.
Following an investigation, a 29-year-old from Guelph has been charged with two counts of sexual assault.
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Guelph on July 14.
