Suspicious fire in Erin causes extensive property damage

TOWN OF ERIN – On Sept. 17, 2020 at approximately 11 p.m., members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), along with the Town of Erin Fire and Emergency Services and the Guelph/Eramosa Fire Department, responded to a fire on Side Road 17 near Eighth Line in the Town of Erin.  

When crews arrived on scene, they found four trailers and a passenger vehicle on fire at an industrial business property.  

There were no injuries. The fire caused extensive property damage.  

The Office of the Fire Marshal (O.F.M.) has been notified, as the cause of the fire is believed to be suspicious in nature.  

The Wellington County OPP Crime Unit is assisting with the investigation.  

Anyone with information, or who may have been in the area prior to 11:00 p.m. with dashcam footage, is asked to contact the Wellington County OPP at 1-888-310-1122.
