SUV leaves scene after striking cyclist

Driver stopped and checked on cyclist before leaving, even though impact was enough to break the windshield of the vehicle

Guelph police are investigating after a cyclist was struck Thursday by an SUV which fled the scene. The cyclist was not injured.

Emergency services were called just before 3:30 p.m. to Edinburgh Road North and Merion Street. It was reported an adult male cyclist was struck by a black Nissan Rogue, causing the windshield to break.

The driver of the Nissan, described as a possibly Asian man in his 50s, stopped and asked the cyclist if he was okay before driving away. The vehicle was last seen southbound on Edinburgh Road North.
