Taser used after police say suspect resisted arrest

On June 3, 2019 at 5:44 p.m., Guelph Police were patrolling in the downtown area and observed a male known to them standing in the vestibule of a Wyndham Street apartment building. The man does not live there and on closer inspection he was seen to be holding (an alleged) drug pipe and lighter. The investigation led to officers attempting to arrest the man who initially resisted physically. A conductive energy weapon was utilized to gain control without injury and he was arrested.

A 34-year-old Guelph man has been charged with resist arrest, breach recognizance and two counts of breach probation. He was also charged under the Trespass to Property Act with engage in prohibited activity. He was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
