TOWN OF ERIN - On Monday, Feb. 11, 2019 members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a vehicle entry and theft on Queen Street in Erin.

Investigation revealed that the complainant's unlocked vehicle was entered sometime overnight while it was parked in the driveway of his residence. Suspect(s) stole his wallet, spent his cash and used his credit and debit cards before he was even aware they were gone. A number of other unlocked vehicles in the neighbourhood were also entered.

To help prevent future incidents, the OPP would like to remind everyone about the LOCK IT OR LOSE IT campaign. It is a crime prevention program that reminds the public to lock their vehicles and remove any valuables and keys from within. This helps reduce the motivation and likelihood of property crimes. If you do suspect that your vehicle has been entered please report it.

Any person with information regarding this or any other criminal activity should contact the Wellington County OPP at 1-888-310-1122.

Should you wish to remain anonymous, you may call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS) or submit a tip online. You may be eligible for a reward from Crime Stoppers of up to $2,000.
