Guelph police say a Toyota Highlander was stolen overnight Monday and an attempt was made to steal a second.

A Guelph woman called police just after 4:30 a.m. Tuesday to report her white 2021 Highlander missing from her driveway near Victoria Road South and Arkell Road.

It was the second Highlander targeted in the south end in less than 24 hours.

Monday afternoon, a resident near Goodwin Drive and Wilkie Crescent reported two suspicious males had been caught on camera overnight checking out his 2023 Highlander. One of the males entered the vehicle and removed several pieces of trim in an attempt to access the vehicle’s wiring. The vehicle was not stolen but the males did approximately $2,000 in damage.

The males were both described as white and wearing light-coloured hoodies, darker pants and hats. One had a heavier build and was also wearing a bandana over his face. The second had a thinner build. It is unknown if the two incidents are related.
