Three drivers face impaired charges

TOWNSHIP OF CENTRE WELLINGTON - On Friday, Dec. 21, 2017 at approximately 2 p.m., the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received multiple complaints of a possible drunk driver. It was reported that the driver of a white Pontiac SUV was showing signs of impairment. The OPP located and stopped the driver on Fourth Line, south of Elora.

While speaking with the female driver, officers formed the belief that she was impaired by alcohol. She was arrested and transported to a local OPP Detachment for testing.

Forty-eight-year-old Elizabeth A. Fleming of Fergus has been charged with driving while ability impaired by alcohol and refusing to provide sample of breath contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. She was also charged with driving with open liquor contrary to the Liquor License Act. A 90-day administrative driver's licence suspension (A.D.L.S.) and seven-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute. She is scheduled to appear in Guelph Criminal Court on Jan. 16, 2018.

TOWNSHIP OF CENTRE WELLINGTON - On Friday, Dec. 21, 2017 at approximately 7 p.m., a member of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) stopped a driver of a blue Chevrolet pickup who was believed to be a disqualified driver on Beatty Line, Fergus.

While speaking with the male driver officers formed the opinion that he was under the influence of alcohol. A roadside screening test was conducted which resulted in a fail. He was arrested and transported to a local OPP Detachment for testing.

Fifty-two-year-old David T. Hindley of Fergus has been charged with driving with over 80 mgs of alcohol in 100mL of blood, as well as driving while disqualified contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. A 90-day administrative driver's licence suspension (A.D.L.S.) and seven-day Vehicle Impoundment was initiated as per statute. He is scheduled to attend Guelph Court on Jan. 16, 2018.

TOWN OF PUSLINCH - On Dec. 23, 2017 members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (R.I.D.E.) Check on Brock Road South, Aberfoyle. At approximately 12:15 a.m., the driver of a black Hyundai sedan entered the R.I.D.E. check.

While speaking with the male driver officers formed the opinion that he was under the influence of alcohol. A roadside screening test was conducted which resulted in a fail. He was arrested and brought to a local OPP Operations Centre for further testing.

Thirty-six-year-old Patrick George Ledger of Fergus has been charged with driving with over 80 mgs of alcohol in 100mL of blood contrary to the Criminal Code. A 90-day administrative driver's licence suspension (A.D.L.S.) and seven-day Vehicle Impoundment was initiated as per statute. He is scheduled to appear in Guelph Court on Jan. 16, 2018.
