Three teens face racing charges following collision

No injuries reported, but crash happened just before a school bus arrived in the area to drop off elementary school children

On Feb. 19, 2020 at 3:45 p.m., members of the Guelph Police Service were dispatched to the area of Woodland Glen Drive and Wagoners Trail in the City of Guelph in regards to a motor vehicle collision. With the assistance of the public, investigation revealed that prior to the collision, three vehicles had engaged in a street race, speeding at an excessive rate and attempting to pass one another on the roadway. As a result, two of the three vehicles had collided with one another.

No one was injured as a result of the collision, however, the collision occurred prior to a school bus attending in the area to drop off elementary school children to their parents who were waiting for them.

As a result, two 17-year-old males and an 18-year-old male, all G2 novice drivers from Guelph, were charged with racing a motor vehicle under the Highway Traffic Act, had their licenses seized for seven days and had their vehicles impounded for seven days.
