Guelph Police responded to 198 calls for service

The following news releases were issued today by the Guelph Police Service:

Male robbed at knifepoint
On Nov. 10, 2019 just after noon, an adult male was taking money out of an ATM at a bank located in the downtown core of the City Of Guelph when the suspect approached him from behind and demanded he turn over all of his money. When the victim turned around, he observed the suspect holding a six-inch long fishing style knife. The victim gave him all of his money and the suspect fled on foot. Police attended the scene but were unable to locate the suspect.

The Guelph Police Service is looking for public assistance in identifying the following male.

He is described as:
    •    Caucasian male
    •    5’7”
    •    25 years old
    •    Dark hoodie with hood up
    •    A blue bandana with white polka dots around his forehead
    •    Dark face covering over his mouth
    •    White Nike high top sneakers with a black swoosh, black sole and black laces

Numerous residential break and enters reported
1. Some time overnight on Nov. 16, 2019, the laundry room of an apartment building located in the west end of the City of Guelph was entered. A washing machine was damaged and approximately $25 worth of change was taken.

2. On Nov. 16, 2019 between noon and 12:50 p.m., a residence located in the west end of the City of Guelph was entered. Numerous items including jewelry were taken.

3. On Nov. 20, 2019, it was reported to the Guelph Police Service that a vehicle parked outside a residence located in the east end of the City of Guelph was entered. The suspect then used the garage door opener to enter the garage, where a second vehicle was also entered. Numerous items were taken including credit cards that were then used at different locations throughout the City of Guelph.

4. Some time during the day on Nov. 20, 2019, a residence located in the south end of the City of Guelph was entered. The house was ransacked and numerous items were taken.

5. Some time during the day on Nov. 20, 2019, a residence located in the west end of the City of Guelph was entered. Numerous items were taken including a jewelry box.

6. On Nov. 20, 2019 between 8 a.m. and 5:15 p.m., a residence located in the south end of the City of Guelph was entered. Numerous items were taken including jewelry, a watch and $300 in a combination of Canadian, American and Cuban currency.
The male suspect is described as:
    •    Caucasian
    •    5’11
    •    Wide build
    •    Dark-coloured goatee
    •    Limping with left leg
    •    Black balaclava
    •    Black large winter coat with hood up
    •    Cargo pants
    •    Carrying a laser pointer keychain

Traffic stop leads to numerous charges
On Nov. 21, 2019 at 3:09 a.m., police conducted a routine traffic stop with a vehicle in the downtown core of the City of Guelph. Further investigation revealed that the driver was in possession of a small quantity of drugs. He was subsequently arrested.

A 28-year-old Guelph male has been charged with:
    •    Possession of a controlled substance
    •    Fail to surrender permit for motor vehicle
    •    Fail to surrender insurance card
    •    Drive without proper rear lights on a motor vehicle
    •    G1 driver drive at unlawful hour
    •    G1 driver unaccompanied by qualified driver

He will appear in court on Dec. 31, 2019.
