Torontonian and Guelphite face impaired driving charges

On Sept. 28, 2019 members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (R.I.D.E.) check on the Hanlon Expressway in the city of Guelph. At approximately 12:30 a.m. the driver of a grey sedan entered the R.I.D.E. check.

Officers formed the opinion that the driver had been consuming alcohol. A Roadside Screening Test was conducted and the driver registered a fail. They were arrested and brought to a local OPP operations centre for further testing.

As a result of the investigation, Jacob Douglas Wilkins, 27-years-old of Guelph has been charged with Impaired Operation - 80 Plus (mgs of alcohol in 100mL of blood) contrary to the Criminal Code.

A 90-day Administrative Driver's Licence Suspension (A.D.L.S.) and seven-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute. The accused was scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice - Guelph on Nov. 1, 2019.

TOWNSHIP OF CENTRE WELLINGTON - On Sept. 29, 2019, at approximately 10:30 a.m. the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a possible drunk-driver on Wellington Road 7 south of the town of Elora. It was reported that a driver of a brown sedan was driving erratically and that the driver was possibly impaired.

Police attended and located the driver. Officers formed the opinion that the driver had been consuming alcohol. A Roadside Screening Test was conducted and the driver registered a fail. They were arrested and brought to a local OPP operations centre for further testing. The driver was also found to be in possession of a prohibited edged weapon.

As a result of the investigation Edson Edouard, 39-years-old of Toronto, has been charged with Unauthorized Possession of a Weapon and Impaired Operation - 80 Plus (mg of alcohol per 100 mL of blood).

A 90-day Administrative Driver's Licence Suspension (A.D.L.S.) and seven-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute. The accused was scheduled to appear in the Ontario court of justice - Guelph on Oct. 29, 2019.
