Traffic complaint results in impaired driving charge

TOWNSHIP OF CENTRE WELLINGTON - On May 7, 2021 at approximately 3:30 p.m., Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a possible impaired driver on St. David Street North in Fergus.

Police located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop.

As a result of the investigation, Anthony Douglas Jones, 55-years-old of Fergus, has been charged with operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration 80 Plus contrary to the Criminal Code.

A 90-day administrative driver's licence suspension (ADLS) and seven-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute. The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice - Guelph at a later date.

If you suspect someone is driving while their ability to operate a motor vehicle is impaired, either by drug or alcohol, call police at 911 to report it.
