A Guelph woman faces impaired driving and drug charges following a traffic stop Monday night.

Just before 11 p.m., an off-duty police officer saw a vehicle being driven erratically in a parking lot at Wellington Street West and Imperial Road South. Uniformed officers arrived and observed the vehicle pulling onto Wellington Street West, where it straddled two lanes while being driven at erratic speeds. A traffic stop was conducted.

While speaking to the driver officers noted she was showing signs of impairment. A small glass jar containing suspected crack cocaine could be seen inside the car.

The driver was arrested, and a search incident to arrest also revealed suspected fentanyl and hydromorphone as well as drug paraphernalia and a digital scale.

A 61-year-old Guelph woman is charged with impaired driving and three counts of possessing controlled substances for the purpose of trafficking. She was held for a bail hearing Tuesday.
