Traffic stop in Fergus leads to arrest, weapons charges

Police say that officers determined after the stop that one of the people in the vehicle was wanted and that two prohibited weapons along with suspected drugs were found during a search of the vehicle

On April 27, 2021 at approximately 9:30 a.m., a member of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) stopped a vehicle for a Highway Traffic Act offence on Garafraxa Street East in Fergus.

Officers determined that one of the occupants was wanted by police.

 A search of the motor vehicle revealed break and enter tools, two prohibited weapons, drugs, and various pieces of stolen identification.

The following were arrested and charged and will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice - Guelph on May 25, 2021 to answer to the charges.

Dylan Kingscote-Jones, 32 years old, from Guelph:

  • Possession Break-In Instruments.
  • Possession of Unauthorized Credit Card
  • Adult Possession of a Schedule 2 Substance
  •  Fail to Comply with Undertaking
  • Possession Property Obtained by Crime
  • Unauthorized Possession of Weapon
  • Obstruct Plate

Jodi Vanessa Hopkins, 34 years old, from Guelph:

  • Unauthorized Possession of a Weapon
  • Possession of Break-In Instruments
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime
