A Mississauga male faces a drug charge after driving through two red lights early Thursday.

Approximately 3:10 a.m., Guelph Police Service officers on patrol in the downtown observed a motor vehicle driving through two red lights and stopped it in the area of Wyndham Street North and Macdonell Street.

Upon speaking to the driver, officers observed loose marijuana in the centre console which is an offence under the Cannabis Act. A further search of the motor vehicle revealed a quantity of suspected cocaine on the floor behind the driver’s seat, and a digital scale in the glove box.

A 24-year-old Mississauga male is charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking and several driving offences. He will appear in a Guelph court Dec. 4.
