Traffic stop leads to drug charge

TOWNSHIP OF NORTH WELLINGTON - On Sept. 17, 2017 at approximately 9:50 a.m. a Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer stopped a female driver of a 1997 Honda CRV for speeding on County Road 16.

While speaking with the female driver the officer detected a strong odour of what appeared to be raw marijuana. The driver of the vehicle was arrested. A subsequent search of the vehicle located over 1 kg of dried bud. 

Eighteen-year-old Jenny-Lynn Hardisty-Chittenden of Grey Highlands has been charged with possession of marijuana for the purpose of trafficking contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.

She is to appear in Guelph Criminal Court on Oct. 24, 2017 to answer to the charge.
