A Guelph man is charged with impaired driving following a traffic stop early Wednesday.

Shortly before 2:30 a.m. police stopped a vehicle on Water Street. The driver exited his vehicle and was observed to be unsteady on his feet and have a strong odour of alcoholic beverage on his breath.

Police say he registered a fail on a roadside screening device and was transported to the police station, where testing confirmed he had nearly three times the legal limit of alcohol on his breath.

A 46 year old is charged with impaired driving. His driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days and his vehicle was impounded for seven days.
