Traffic stop leads to weapon charges for Guelph woman

A 31-year-old Guelph female is charged with possessing a prohibited weapon, possessing a controlled substance and two counts of breaching probation

A traffic stop Monday morning led to drug and weapons charges for a Guelph woman.

At approximately 8:20 a.m., officers on patrol observed a vehicle stopped in the middle of the road near Applewood Crescent and Willow Road. While speaking to the occupants, officers recognized the woman passenger from prior dealings. Investigation revealed she had outstanding warrants from other police services and she was arrested.

During a search incident to arrest, officers discovered a pair of brass knuckles and a quantity of suspected psilocybin, also known as magic mushrooms.

A 31-year-old Guelph woman is charged with possessing a prohibited weapon, possessing a controlled substance and two counts of breaching probation. She will appear in a Guelph court April 8.
