In the last 24 hours, Guelph Police dealt with 227 calls for service

The following news releases were issued today by the Guelph Police Service:

Guelph Police Bike Patrol
On July 16, 2018 members of the Guelph Police bike patrol unit were conducting patrol in the downtown area. At approximately 8:07 a.m., police observed a male who was breaching his conditions.

Joseph Marquis, an 18-year-old Guelph male, was arrested and charged with three counts of breaching his Probation Order, as well as one count of breaching his YCJA Probation Order. Marquis appeared in court on July 16, 2018.

On July 16, 2018, members of the Guelph Police bike patrol unit were conducting patrol along the trails between York Road and Gordon Street. At approximately 11:53 a.m., police observed three males drinking alcohol just off the trail. As a result, the males were each issued a ticket for having open liquor.

On July 16, 2018, members of the Guelph Police bike patrol unit were conducting patrol in Royal City Park. At approximately 12:17 p.m., police observed a male who was breaching his conditions.

Karl Trento, a 23-year-old Guelph male, was arrested and charged with breaching his Undertaking, as well as two counts of breaching his Probation Order. Trento appeared in court on July 16, 2018.

Fire at 62 Willow Rd.
The following media release is being posted on behalf of the Guelph Fire Department.

On Monday July 16, 2018 at approximately 19:54, Guelph Fire Department responded to a reported fire on the balcony at 62 Willow Rd. Units from Station #1, #2, #4, and #5 arrived at the scene and found smoke coming from the rear of this six-plex apartment building.

The fire was quickly brought under control and subsequently extinguished. Firefighters performed a rapid search and rescue and all occupants from the building were evacuated. Guelph Wellington Emergency Services treated some occupants for smoke inhalation and other minor injuries.

The cause of the fire along with an estimate of damage is still under investigation. Fire Prevention was contacted and remains on scene at this time further investigating the cause.
