Robbery – two arrested On May 22, 2016 the Guelph Police investigated a reported robbery. It is alleged that at 2:32 a.m., two suspects entered the Esso gas station on Woodlawn Road West with their faces concealed.

On May 22, 2016 the Guelph Police investigated a reported robbery. It is alleged that at 2:32 a.m., two suspects entered the Esso gas station on Woodlawn Road West with their faces concealed. A demand was made for cash and tobacco products. They stole over a hundred boxes of cigarettes and cigars as well as chewing tobacco and cash. They then fled in a waiting motor vehicle.  Police located the motor vehicle and attempted to stop it. The vehicle failed to stop but was eventually abandoned and the males left on foot. Guelph Canine and OPP Canine worked together and tracked the suspects for close to 4kms. The two suspects had broken into a building and were arrested trying to flee from the building by police. A small quantity of Marihuana was located on one male during the subsequent search.

Jake O’Shaughnessy, 22 years of Guelph has been charged with robbery, disguise with Intent, flight from police and mischief under $5,000.

Kirklin Nahrgang, 19 years of Kitchener has been charged with robbery, disguise with Intent, flight from police, mischief under $5,000 and possession of a controlled substance.

Both males will appear in court on May 24, 2016. A third male is still being sought by police.

Break and enter

On May 22, 2016 at 10:54 p.m., the Guelph Police went to a Paisley Street business to investigate a break and enter. The suspects entered the main floor business through a basement window. A computer is reported stolen.

Drive over 80mg

On May 23, 2016 at 6:50 p.m., the Guelph Police conducted a traffic stop with a GMC pickup truck towing a trailer in the area of Victoria Road North and Brant Avenue. Police spoke with the male driver and a demand was made for a roadside breath sample. He failed this test and was arrested.

Darren Snelgrove , 40 years old of Guelph has been charged with drive over 80mg. He was also charged under the Highway Traffic Act with drive while under suspension. He will appear in court on July 8, 2016.

Impaired driver arrested

On May 23, 2016 at 2:38 a.m., the Guelph Police received the report of a possible impaired driver going through the drive through at A&W on Wellington Street. Police located the car and female driver and after speaking with her, she was arrested. 

Jennifer Drewlo, 32 years old of Guelph has been charged with impaired driving and drive over 80mg. She will appear in court on June 7, 2016.

Impaired by drug

On May 23, 2016 at 8:10 p.m., the Guelph Police received the report of a possible impaired driver in the area of Edinburgh Road and College Avenue. The driver and vehicle were located and a traffic stop was conducted. The driver was subsequently arrested.

Daniel Sheppit, 30 years old of Burlington has been charged with impaired driving by drug. He will appear in court on July 8, 2016.

May 21 - In the area of Gordon Street and Stone Road between 10:50 a.m. and 12:00 p.m.     5 tickets issued

May 21 - In the area of Wellington Street and Edinburgh Road between 1:00 p.m. and 2:15 p.m.     8 tickets issued

May 22 - In the area of Victoria Road and Hadati Road between 7:50 p.m. and 9:40 p.m.   8 tickets issued

May 23 - In the area of Watson Parkway North between 8:35 a.m. and 12:00 p.m.     14 tickets issued

May 23 - In the area of Victoria Road and Greenview Street between 10:20 a.m. and 11:50 a.m.     8 tickets issued 

On May 21, 2016 at 11:31 a.m., a 21-year-old Guelph male motorcyclist was charged with stunt driving in the area of Stone Road and Gordon Street after he did a wheelie with his bike. He was also charged under the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act with drive motor vehicle no insurance. His driver’s licence was seized and the bike impounded for seven days.

Police incidents from May 21 to May 24 at 8 a.m.

The Guelph Police were involved in 535 incidents in this time frame. Incidents involve everything from traffic stops and accidental 911 calls to domestics and break and enters.
