Theft from cars – two arrested
On Oct. 18, 2016 at 1:22 a.m., the Guelph Police went to the Dumbarton Street area for the report of two males checking cars. Two males were later located, found to have stolen property on them and they were arrested.
Cody Allison, 18 years of Guelph has been charged with three counts of possession of stolen property. He will appear in court on November 29, 2016.
Steven Armstrong, 21 years of Guelph has been charged with three counts of possession of stolen property. He will appear in court on November 29, 2016.
Stolen vehicle
On Oct. 17, 2016 the Guelph Police received the report of a stolen vehicle. Sometime between 2:30 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. a blue 2004 Lexus RX33 SUV plate number BYBA510 was stolen from Fountain Street across from the Provincial Court house.

Downtown arrest
On Oct. 17, 2016 at 5:22 p.m., the Guelph Police went to the rear of 10 Paisley Street to deal with a group of individuals that had been previously asked to leave. One of the males was found to have conditions to not attend this property. He was arrested and the subsequent search discovered a small knife. The man also has the condition to not possess any weapons.
The 43-year-old man of no fixed address has been charged with two counts of breach of recognizance. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing on Oct. 18, 2016.
Guelph canine General assists Waterloo
On Oct. 17, 2016 at 3:04 a.m., Waterloo Regional Police responded to a hit and run motor vehicle collision on Blackbridge Road, Cambridge. The vehicle had extensive damage and the driver had fled prior to police arrival.
Guelph Police Canine General was requested to assist in searching for the driver. The canine team arrived facing a 30 minute delay but they tracked the driver and located him hiding in a bush area. While being arrested the man assaulted a police officer. A search subsequent to his arrest discovered stolen property on him.
The 33-year-old Kitchener man was charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, fail to remain, drive while suspended, possession of stolen property and assault police. He was held in custody pending a bail hearing on Oct. 17, 2016.
Theft from cars
On Oct. 17, 2016 the Guelph Police received ten reports from Guelph residents about thefts from their cars. The locations were Vancouver Drive, Gordon Street, Atto Drive, Ferman Drive, Brant Avenue, Drew Street, Westminster Avenue, Wilkie Crescent and two on Massey Road.
This crime is easily avoided by locking your cars, keeping valuables out of sight or removed from your vehicle and parked in a well-lit and visible area where possible.
