Two Guelph drivers face impaired driving charges following unrelated driving complaints over the long weekend.

Just after 8 p.m. Friday, police were notified of a possible impaired driver leaving a licensed establishment near Stone Road West and Edinburgh Road South.

After pulling the vehicle over, officers detected an odour of alcoholic beverage on the driver’s breath. He failed a roadside breath test and further investigation confirmed he had more than the legal amount of alcohol in his system.

A 28-year-old Guelph man is charged with impaired driving.

Sunday, around 7:35 p.m., police were notified of a possible impaired driver in the area of Speedvale Avenue East and Metcalfe Street. The vehicle was located and officers spoke to the driver, who was unsteady on her feet and had a strong odour of alcoholic beverage on her breath.

A 27-year-old Guelph woman was charged with impaired driving and breach of probation.
