Two pedestrians taken to Hamilton hospital after being hit by SUV

Pair listed in stable condition following Tuesday evening incident on Gordon Street

Guelph police report a man and a woman were transported to a Hamilton trauma centre after they were both struck by an SUV near on Gordon Street Tuesday night.

Emergency services were called just before 10 p.m. to Gordon Street just south of Waterloo Avenue. Two pedestrians were crossing Gordon Street when they were struck by a northbound Jeep Cherokee, police report.

Gordon Street was closed for several hours between Waterloo Avenue and Fountain Street for the collision investigation. The driver of the Cherokee remained on scene and was cooperative.

A 47-year-old Guelph woman and 37-year-old Guelph man were both transported to hospital in Hamilton where they were listed Wednesday morning in stable condition.

The collision remains under investigation.
