GUELPH - On Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2018, at approximately 3:47 p.m., a Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer was monitoring traffic and conducting radar on the Hanlon Expressway near Laird Road in the City of Guelph. The officer observed a male driving an orange motor vehicle northbound at a speed that appeared to be well above the posted 80 km/h speed limit. The vehicle was locked on radar in excess of 130 km/h.

40-year-old Zemen Kebede Abera of Guelph has been charged with Racing a Motor Vehicle contrary to the Highway Traffic Act and is scheduled to appear in Guelph Provincial Court on Oct. 17, 2018. His driver's licence and vehicle were seized for a period of seven days as per statute.
