TOWNSHIP OF WELLINGTON NORTH - On Sunday June 2, 2019 at approximately 4:30 p.m., Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a single vehicle collision on Sideroad 6 south of Mount Forest.
Initial reports indicated that a driver had entered the ditch and suffered minor injuries. OPP and Guelph-Wellington Paramedics Service responded.
While speaking with the driver, officers formed the opinion that they were impaired by alcohol.
The driver was arrested and brought to a local OPP Operations Centre for further testing. As a result of the investigation, Paul Anthony Villeneuve, 62-years-old of Mount Forest has been charged with impaired operation - 80 plus (mgs of alcohol in 100mL of blood). A 90-day administrative driver's licence suspension (A.D.L.S.) and seven-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute.
The accused is scheduled to appear in Guelph Criminal Court on July 5, 2019. If you suspect someone is driving while their ability to operate a motor vehicle is impaired by drugs or alcohol, please call 911 immediately.
