Vehicle locked on radar in excess of 150 km/h on Highway 6

TOWNSHIP OF WELLINGTON NORTH, ON - On June 20, 2020, at approximately 1 p.m., a Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer was monitoring traffic and conducting radar on Highway 6 near Laird Road. 

The officer observed a southbound motor vehicle travelling at a speed that appeared to be well above the posted 80 km/h speed limit. The vehicle was locked on radar in excess of 150 km/h.

Azher Asif Mohammed, 44-years-old of Barrie has been charged with Racing a Motor Vehicle contrary to the Highway Traffic Act.

The defendant is scheduled to appear in Guelph at the Ontario Court of Justice - Provincial Offences Court on September 2, 2020. The vehicle and driver's licence were seized for a period of seven days as per statute.
