Vehicle locked on radar traveling 55 km over the speed limit

The driver faces racing charges and licence suspension/vehicle seizure

On Dec. 5, 2017 at approximately 7:45 p.m., a Wellington County OPP officer was monitoring traffic on County Road 7 near South Street in Elora. The officer observed a male driving a 2017 Nissan Rogue at a speed that appeared to be well above the posted 50 km/h speed limit. The vehicle was locked on radar in excess of 105 km/h.

Forty-two-year-old Hanan Jerrett of Guelph has been charged with race a motor vehicle contrary to the Highway Traffic Act and is scheduled to appear in Guelph Provincial Court on Jan. 3, 2018. His driver's licence and vehicle were seized for a period of seven days as per statute.
