Vehicle rollover results in impaired driving charge

Three other drivers also face impaired charges

TOWN OF ERIN - On Friday, Nov. 9, 2018 at approximately 9:55 a.m., Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a single motor vehicle rollover on Orangeville Street in Erin. Witnesses reported seeing the injured male driver fleeing from the scene and were able to provide a description to police. After a brief investigation officers attended male's residence and while speaking with him determined that his ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired and he was placed under arrest.

The driver was transported to hospital by ambulance where he was treated for his injuries and completed further testing.

Twenty-two-year-old Daniel Tannhauser of Erin has been charged with impaired driving contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.

A 90-day administrative driver's licence suspension (A.D.L.S.) and seven-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute. He is scheduled to appear in Guelph Criminal Court on Dec. 7, 2018.

GUELPH-ERAMOA TOWNSHIP - On Friday, Nov. 9, 2018 at approximately 9:40 p.m., Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting R.I.D.E. spot checks on Wellington Road 39 just south of Wellington Road 30 when a northbound pick-up truck failed to stop when directed to. Officers followed the truck and conducted a traffic stop. While speaking with the male driver, officers determined that he was under the influence of alcohol. A roadside screening device test (ASD) was conducted which resulted in a fail. He was arrested and brought to a local OPP Operations Centre for further testing.

While conducting a search incident to arrest, officers located an open can of beer in the vehicle and marihuana in his coat pocket.

Thirty-year-old Corey Schlueter-Roes of Kitchener has been charged with driving with over 80 mgs of alcohol in 100mL of blood contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada, adult drive vehicle with cannabis readily available contrary to the Cannabis Act 2017, and drive motor vehicle with open container of liquor contrary to the Liquor Licence Act.

A 90-day administrative driver's licence suspension (A.D.L.S.) and seven-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute. He is scheduled to appear in Guelph Criminal Court on Nov. 30, 2018.

TOWNSHIP OF CENTRE WELLINGTON - On Saturday, Nov. 10, 2018 at approximately 6:50 p.m., Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting R.I.D.E. spot checks on Wellington Road 7 near Ross Street where they investigated the male driver of a four door sedan that enter into the check point.

While speaking with the male, officers determined that he was under the influence of alcohol. A roadside screening device test (ASD) was conducted which resulted in a fail. He was arrested and brought to a local OPP Operations Centre for further testing.

Forty-two-year-old Michael Wilson of Elora has been charged with driving with over 80 mgs of alcohol in 100mL of blood contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.

A 90-day administrative driver's licence suspension (A.D.L.S.) and seven-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute. He is scheduled to appear in Guelph Criminal Court on Nov. 30, 2018.

TOWNSHIP OF CENTRE WELLINGTON - On Monday, Nov. 12, 2018 at approximately 8:40 p.m., a member of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) investigated the driver of a four-door silver sedan for a Highway Traffic Act violation on Provost Lane near St. Andrew Street west in Fergus.

While speaking with the male, officers determined that he was under the influence of alcohol. A roadside screening device test (ASD) was conducted which resulted in a fail. He was arrested and brought to a local OPP Operations Centre for further testing.

Twenty-five-year-old Caleb Kleinveld of Elora has been charged with driving with over 80 mgs of alcohol in 100mL of blood contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada, drive while under suspension and novice driver BAC above zero contrary to the Highway Traffic Act. He is scheduled to appear in Guelph Criminal Court on Dec. 11, 2018.
