Vehicle stuck in snow on dead-end road, impaired charge laid

TOWNSHIP OF CENTRE WELLINGTON - On Friday, March 1, 2019 at approximately 6:20 a.m. the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of vehicle stuck on Noah Road, East of Elora. It was reported that a sedan was stuck in the deep snow on the dead-end road.

Officers arrived at the road closed sign and proceeded on foot towards the lodged vehicle. The driver was found revving the engine and spinning the tires in an attempt move the vehicle.

Police spoke with the male and determined that his ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired by alcohol. He was arrested and brought to a local OPP Operations Centre for further testing.

Russell Rennie, 33-years-old, of Mapleton Township has been charged with Impaired Operation - 80 Plus and Impaired Operation. A 90-day Administrative Driver's Licence Suspension and seven-day Vehicle Impoundment were initiated as per statute. He is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice on April 5, 2019 to answer to his charges.
