A Guelph woman faces a number of new charges after being arrested on an outstanding warrant early Saturday morning.

Members of the high-enforcement action team reportedly spotted three people walking through a Woodlawn Road West parking lot shortly after midnight and recognized a woman wanted for skipping court last month in relation to break-and-enter and drug possession charges.

After being arrested on the outstanding warrant, a Guelph Police Service news release explains the woman was searched and officers discovered an extendable baton and several stolen cheques inside a fanny pack she was carrying, as well as a metal cylinder containing suspected fentanyl and prescription painkillers.

A 38-year-old woman is charged with carrying a concealed weapon, possession of stolen property, failing to appear in court and two counts of possessing a controlled substance.
