Guelph Police responded to 151 calls for service

The following news release was issued today by the Guelph Police Service:

Male arrested for curfew violation
On March 24, 2020, an adult male was released on a Release Order in the City of Kitchener with the following condition:
    •    Remain in your residence 24 hours a day, seven days a week except for medical emergencies involving you

On March 31 at 8:15 a.m., police observed the male walking on Waterloo Avenue in the City of Guelph. The male advised that he had just been at a pharmacy located in the downtown core for medical purposes.

Further investigation revealed that the pharmacy the male indicated he attended did not open until 9 a.m. and that a second pharmacy near that location also didn’t open until 9 a.m.

At 8:45 a.m., police again observed the male walking on Waterloo Avenue and he was subsequently arrested.

A 30-year-old Guelph male has been charged with fail to comply with judicial release.

He will appear in court on July 21.
