Man assaults people on bus

On July 19, 2016 at 10:43 a.m., the Guelph Police went to Macdonell Street to investigate the report of an assault. It is alleged that at approximately 10:35 a.m. a male riding a Guelph Transit bus became agitated and lashed out at a woman and her two small children by swinging his jacket at them. The bus driver attempted to intervene only to have the man go after him. A concerned citizen then tried to assist the driver when the man then went after him as well. The citizen was able to defend himself which halted the situation until police arrived and arrested the man. Minor injuries are reported.

Daniel Williams, 61 years of Guelph has been charged with four counts of assault. He will appear in court on September 2, 2016.

Break and enter

On July 19, 2016, the Guelph Police went to a Waterloo Avenue apartment to investigate a break and enter. The culprit(s) entered sometime overnight and stole several bottles of alcohol and a small quantity of medical Marijuana.

H.E.A.T. make arrest downtown

On July 19, 2016 at 1:53 p.m., the Guelph Police High Enforcement Action Team (HEAT) was downtown and observed a male on a park bench between Yarmouth Street and Norfolk Street. There were grounds to arrest this male for the theft of a window air conditioner that took place on June 10, 2016 from 2 Quebec Street. The man was arrested and the subsequent search discovered small quantities of Crystal Meth, Hydromorph Cotin, Diazepam, Clonazepam and Marihuana.

Brian Slade, 34 years of Guelph has been charged with theft under $5,000 and five counts of possession of a controlled substance. He will appear in court on September 2, 2016.

Collision – impaired driver arrested

On July 19, 2016 at 6:56 a.m., the Guelph Police were called to Starwood Drive to investigate the report of a car striking a parked car. The responsible driver remained on scene. Police spoke with the male driver and a demand was made for a roadside breath sample. He failed this test and was arrested.

Nathan Toms, 25 years of Guelph has been charged with drive over 80 mg. He was also charged under the Highway Traffic Act with careless driving. He will appear in court on August 5, 2016.

Arrest on Auden Road

On July 20, 2016 at 12:40 a.m., the Guelph Police observed two males standing with three bicycles on Auden Road. Investigation determined that there were grounds to arrest one of the men for a theft that took place on July 17, 2016 at the Esso station on Woodlawn Road. A search subsequent to his arrest discovered a small quantity of Crystal Meth.

Kyle Bickford, 26 years of Guelph has been charged with theft under $5,000 and possession of a controlled substance. He will appear in court on August 30, 2016.
