Guelph Police dealt with 184 calls for service

The following news releases were issued today by the Guelph Police Service:

Body discovered
On June 18, 2019 at about 12:50 p.m., emergency responders were called to the area of Starwood Drive and Grange Road after a citizen reported finding a deceased man behind the plaza.

The identity of the 30-year-old man is known and police are working with the coroner to determine the circumstances around the death and also notifying immediate family. Police do not believe there is any risk to public safety.

Police are asking anyone with information about this incident to contact Det. Const. Joel APPS at 519-824-1212, ext. 7162. Anonymous tips can be left at Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS(8477) or submitted online.

Two arrested on warrants
A 33-year-old Erin man arrested on a warrant for mischief under, assault and criminal harassment. He will appear in court on Aug. 6, 2019. 

A 35-year-old Guelph man arrested on two warrants that included multiple offences. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Over the past 24 hours the Guelph Police Service dealt with 184 calls for service.

Calling 9-1-1
9-1-1 is the universal phone number for emergency response by Police, Fire or Ambulance Services in the City of Guelph. 9-1-1 should be used in situations where the safety of people or property is at risk. These include crimes in progress, violence, medical emergencies or fire. If it is not an emergency you can call the Guelph Police Service administrative line at 519-824-1212. When calling 9-1-1, please try to remain calm and speak slowly and clearly. You will be asked information regarding your emergency, location, name and phone number so the appropriate response can be initiated.

We recognize the diversity of our community and would like to reassure those who do not speak English that they can still call 9-1-1 in an emergency or 519-824-1212 in a non-emergency. The Guelph Police Service has access to interpreters through Language Line Services who are able to assist in over 170 languages, 24 hours a day. The caller will be asked to say their language of choice and an operator will connect the caller with an interpreter.
