Guelph Police Service dealt with 200 calls for service

The following news releases were issued today by the Guelph Police Service:

Driver arrested for impaired driving
On March 19, 2019 at 10:41 p.m., Guelph Police conducted a traffic stop with a motor vehicle on Victoria Road South. A roadside test was done with an approved screening device. A fail was indicated and the man was arrested.

The 23-year-old Guelph man has been charged with operate conveyance at 80 mgs or above, operate motor vehicle while prohibited and breach of probation. He has also been charged under the Highway Traffic Act with driving while under suspension and under the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act with operate a motor vehicle – no insurance.

He will appear in court on May 3, 2019.

Proactive patrol leads to two men being arrested
On March 19, 2019 at 3:40 p.m., Guelph Police were conducting patrols in the plaza area of Woodlawn Road West and Woolwich Street. Police located a motor vehicle running but parked behind one of the businesses. Investigation of the three males with the vehicle lead to two of them being arrested for breaching conditions. Further investigation resulted in stolen property being located.

A 43-year-old Rockwood man has been charged with breach of undertaking. He was also charged under the Trespass to Property Act with engage in prohibited activity on premises. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

A 28-year-old Guelph man has been charged with breach of undertaking and possession of stolen property under $5,000. He was also charged under the Trespass to Property Act with enter premises when entry prohibited. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
