Guelph Police responded to 200 calls for service

The following news releases were issued today by the Guelph Police Service:

Shoplifting investigation leads to drug charge
On Sept. 29, 2020 at 7:21 a.m., [it is alleged that] an adult male shoplifted two jackets and a pair of boots (total value of $180) from a store located near the intersection of Woodlawn Road West and Woolwich Street in the City of Guelph. He tried on the clothing and then left the store without paying.

At 7:30 a.m., members of the Guelph Police Service located the male in a nearby commercial parking lot and he was subsequently arrested.

A search incident to arrest revealed the stolen property and a syringe containing 0.1ml of green fentanyl.

A 45-year-old Guelph male has been charged with:
    •    Theft under $5,000
    •    Possession of stolen property under $5,000
    •    Possession of Schedule I - fentanyl

He will appear in court on Dec. 22.

Bicycle stolen during garage break-in
Some time during the afternoon of Sept. 28, 2020, the garage of a residence located near the intersection of York Road and Stevenson Street South in the City of Guelph was entered. Entry was gained as the garage door was left open. A silver Norco 21 speed bicycle with black pouch on the front was taken. The bicycle is valued at $500.
