A Guelph woman faces impaired driving charges after police say she was found Friday morning passed out in a running car.

Just before 10 a.m. Friday police were called to Hyland Road and Elginfield Drive. Witnesses reported an unresponsive woman inside a running car stopped on the road. The woman was removed from the car after a window was smashed to permit entry. She had an odour of alcoholic beverage on her breath and was showing signs of impairment.

The woman was transported to hospital to be assessed. Breath tests later revealed she had more than four times the legal limit of alcohol in her system. A 29-year-old Guelph woman is charged with impaired driving.
