Witness report of possible impaired driver leads to charges in Fergus

TOWNSHIP OF CENTRE WELLINGTON - On May 9, 2021, at approximately 8:00 p.m., members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were approached by a witness reporting a possible impaired driver on Elizabeth Cr. in Fergus.

Officer located the vehicle and commenced an investigation.

As a result, Michael Pittman, 45 years old of Fergus has been charged with operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration 80 plus contrary to the Criminal Code. 

A 90-day administrative driver's licence suspension (A.D.L.S.) and seven-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute. The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice - Guelph at a later date.

If you suspect someone is driving while their ability to operate a motor vehicle is impaired, either by drug or alcohol, call police at 911 to report it.
