Woman accused of struggling with police faces numerous charges

On July 1, 2018 at approximately 1:20 p.m. while on routine patrol, Guelph Police Bike Patrol located a female who appeared to be using drugs in an alleyway downtown. The female refused to identify herself when asked and fled on foot when approached by police, resulting in a foot pursuit. The female ran down Wyndham Street, where she then got on a bicycle that was handed to her by a male. The female refused to stop when ordered by police and committed a number of Highway Traffic Offences. Police caught up to the female and after a brief struggle, she was arrested.

A 27-year-old Guelph female was transported to the Guelph Police Station and charged under the Highway Traffic Act with pedestrian fail to use crosswalk, improper bicycle lighting, disobey stop sign – fail to stop, cyclist fail to stop, and cyclist fail to identify self, as well as assault police and breach of probation (x2). She will appear in court Aug. 17.
