Woman arrested after false fire alarm in downtown apartment building

Firefighters and police attended to the scene but no smoke or fire was found

A Guelph woman has been arrested after police say she activated the fire alarm in a downtown apartment building.

Guelph Police said Thursday at 7:24 a.m. a 38-year-old woman activated the wall mounted fire alarm on the third floor of an apartment building located in the downtown core of Guelph.

Numerous members of the Guelph Police Service and Guelph Fire Department attended the scene and checked all the floors of the building but no smoke or fire was found.

She was located downtown at 10 a.m. the same day and arrested,

The woman has been charged with:

  • False alarm - fire
  • Breach probation

She will appear in court on Jan. 22, 2021.
