Woman arrested, knife and drugs seized in stabbing investigation

Among other offences, 26-year-old Guelph woman faces aggravated assault and trafficking charges

A 26-year-old Guelph woman is facing several charges in a stabbing investigation that led to the seizure of a pocket knife and drugs. 

Today around 8:30 a.m., police say they arrived at an apartment building where they found an adult female with serious stab wounds. She was transported to a Hamilton trauma centre and is now in stable condition, Guelph police said in a news release. 

Approximately 45 minutes later, police located a woman in downtown who is believed to be involved in the stabbing and was arrested.

Police say both females know each other. 

During the investigation, the Guelph police located a spring-assisted knife and several small packages with suspected crack cocaine and crystal methamphetamine.

As a result, the 26-year-old is facing the following charges:

  • aggravated assault
  • assault with a weapon
  • possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose
  • possessing a prohibited weapon
  • possessing a weapon, contrary to a prohibition order
  • two counts of possessing a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking

She was held for a bail hearing taking place Monday, police said in the news release. 

The investigation is ongoing.
