A Guelph female was arrested Tuesday for impaired driving in relation to a collision earlier this month.

On Feb. 9, at approximately 4 p.m., the female’s vehicle collided with another vehicle on Imperial Road South near Stephanie Drive. The female’s vehicle crossed the centre lane divider and hit the other vehicle head-on, despite the driver of the other vehicle repeatedly sounding the horn to warn her, police report.

No occupants in the other vehicle were injured. When police arrived on scene, the female appeared disoriented and unsteady on her feet. Drug paraphernalia including a pipe was found on the floor in front of the passenger seat.

The female was taken to Guelph General Hospital at the time to be medically cleared. Samples of her blood were taken with her consent after she was deemed unable to participate in sobriety tests.

Due to the female’s incoherent state it was believed she would not be able to understand her release conditions, so a warrant was taken out for her arrest at a later date.

A 38-year-old Guelph female is charged with impaired operation and dangerous operation. As a result of her arrest she has been prohibited from driving for 90 days and her vehicle was impounded for seven days. The female will appear in a Guelph courtroom June 21.
