Two Guelph residents face impaired driving charges following separate incidents just over two hours apart over the weekend.

Guelph police report that approximately 10:30 p.m. Friday an officer noticed a car stopped in the middle of University Avenue West straddling both lanes. The car moved slowly ahead before stopping abruptly, diagonally blocking all traffic.

A traffic stop was conducted and the driver was showing obvious signs of impairment. After failing a roadside screening test the driver was arrested and transported to the police station, where further testing confirmed she had more than the legal amount of alcohol in her system.
